The Murray Company has been specializing in the design and construction of exceptional custom homes since 1974. Our successful reputation relies on our unique client centered approach- to become true partners, guiding them through the project every step of the way. From site plan to design, budgets, planning, engineering, permits, subcontracting, construction, landscaping and furnishing, building a home is a complex undertaking. We manage the process thoughtfully and efficiently, and keep clients updated through open, honest and frequent communication. Our approach to building has resulted in dozens of beautiful custom homes and a long list of satisfied clients.

Site Plan

 A thorough lot assessment is the first step in creating a home design that accentuates and fits in with the surrounding landscape. We pay close attention to the home-site; the topography, view corridors, privacy, sun exposure and other distinct lot features that make for an aesthetically pleasing and practical custom home.

Style and Concept

At the Murray Company, we believe the foundation of a successful building experience is to truly understand our client's vision. We strive to gather as much information as possible through consultations with the client which include general questions such as architectural style, key features, home size, and budgetary goals. We take time to learn how the house will be used; (full-time residence, 2nd home or  vacation?) and by whom (a couple, extended family, or as a gathering place for friends?) Clients are always invited and encouraged to share their visions in a number of ways including magazines, clipped photos, Pinterest boards, etc. All of this is structured into a list of parameters that drive the design.

Design

Real design work ensues with the “Schematic Design”; utilizing all the available information, a floor plan and elevations are developed. These renderings are presented for the clients’ critique, changes are made where needed, and upon approval, the “construction drawings” are completed. The final phase of design is working with the client to finalize and incorporate their specific choices for the interior features, exterior finishes, and any special accommodations.

Preconstruction: Budgets and Permitting

Our team specializes in creating an itemized and transparent budget that is reviewed with the client to insure the overall project costs are understood and approved. Once the final design and budgetary processes are completed, we work with the local building department for project approval. As an established local builder, we are very familiar with local permitting and development review processes to streamline the preconstruction process.

Construction

Along with our skilled team of craftsmen and subcontractors, project management is onsite every day during the construction phase. Whether or not a client lives in the area, we meet regularly to update the client to assure items such as project schedule, finish choices, and budgets are on-track. The Murray Company specializes in complete home construction and self-performs almost every aspect of the wood working. We hire expert subcontractors for specialty construction items including cabinets, masonry, tile, plumbing, and electrical to insure we have the most knowledgeable and specialized team on the job for each scope of work.
